The places where they farm roses for shipment to the US and other places also has as a main industry, drug trafficking. The logic in the story is that supporting one industry will force a realization that love, not drugs, pays better in the long run.
hehe. Wait, in Maria Full of Grace, didn't the main character work in such a place?.......hmmmm..

Yes, that's the plot lin in Maria Full of Grace.
My theory is different, however. I'm thinking: if my boyfriend doesn't get me roses, I may be driven to drug use out of sheer dissappointment.
