Of Bombs and Doves

What do you think of this proposed Times Square billboard? This SF Chron article covers the controversy, as does this New York Times piece. Make sure to check out the proposed alternatives - one proponents may be willing to adopt replaces the bomb with a dove. Clear Channel suggested a girl holding a flag with the caption "Democracy is Best Taught By Example." Oh yeah - that TOTALLY sends the same message. I think they'd have offered to run the Daisy spot with images of fireworks instead of mushroom clouds in her eyes.

I also can't help but think of the old Jack Handy Deep Thought questioning why the dove is our symbol of peace. Why not the pillow, he asks. It has feathers, but not the dangerous beak. Posted by Hello
